Frequently Asked Questions

We want you to feel fully informed and comfortable before your first session. Here are answers to what people ask most.

Yes absolutely. Everything discussed in your sessions is strictly confidential. Your therapist will never share your information with anyone without your explicit written consent. The only rare exceptions (required by law) are if there is imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others and even then, you would be informed first.
Your first session is a relaxed conversation not an interrogation. Your therapist will listen to what brings you in, ask a few gentle questions to understand your situation, and together you'll begin forming a picture of how therapy can help. There's no pressure. You don't need to share everything in the first session.
Yes we offer in-person sessions at our Nairobi Showgrounds office as well as secure video and phone sessions for clients who prefer to engage remotely, or who are based outside Nairobi. Online sessions are just as effective and held to the same confidentiality standards.
This is genuinely different for everyone. Some people feel significantly better after 6–8 sessions; others benefit from longer-term support. At your first session you'll discuss your goals and a rough plan together. There's never pressure to commit to a long programme therapy continues for as long as it is useful to you.
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) may incur a cancellation fee. We understand that life happens if something urgent comes up, please contact us as early as possible and we will always do our best to accommodate you.
Yes. All Hopebridge therapists hold relevant degrees in psychology or counseling from accredited Kenyan universities, and are registered with the Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors (KCPB) or equivalent professional bodies. We maintain ongoing professional development to ensure the highest standard of care.
Absolutely. You don't need to be in crisis to come to therapy. Many of our clients come simply because they want to understand themselves better, process a life transition, or have a safe, objective space to think things through. If you're even wondering whether therapy might help that is reason enough to reach out.
